Excerpt from Mr. Wrong

Mr. Wrong by A.J. Francis

“I’m going to go to the bathroom and freshen up babe,” she told Derrick.
“Okay baby but don’t be too long or I might have to come in there and make you a member of the mile high club,” Derrick said and winked at her.
Natasha laughed as she walked back to the bathroom. She was relieved to see that it was not in use. She stepped inside the small bathroom and just as she was about to close the door someone pushed it open and stepped in with her. She assumed it was Derrick until she caught sight of the man’s face.
“Don’t be alarmed Ms. Barrows,” Agent Johnson said.
Natasha backed up as much as she could but the bathroom was too small. Agent Johnson’s body was pressed against hers. She could feel his warm breath on her face and she could feel every inch of his muscular body. She felt herself blush as his hand brushed against her thigh.
“What are you doing?” she demanded.
“I know I shouldn’t be telling you this but there is a sting operation set to go down in a few days. The senator is the target and if Derrick is involved he will be going down as well. I’m telling you this because I don’t want you to get caught in the crossfire.”
The plane shifted and they were thrown closer together. Agent Johnson wrapped his hands around Natasha’s waist to balance them out. The smell of his cologne made Natasha increasingly aware of their closeness.
“Why do you care so much Agent Johnson?” she asked.
“It’s my job to protect the innocent and to put those who break the law in jail. I care because it seems to me like you are truly unaware of the things that Derrick has done to get to where he is now. He has been linked to many crooked politicians and drug dealers. I just don’t want to see you get hurt Ms. Barrows.”
“Just because Derrick has worked with those types of people doesn’t make him a bad person. If anything it just makes him good at his job because he has never lost a case. I know you are just doing your job but there is nothing you can say to me that will make me stop loving Derrick. He is the man I am going to spend the rest of my life with,” Natasha said firmly.
Agent Johnson looked down at Natasha and she could see the concern in his eyes. His piercing grey eyes seemed to be pleading with her but she was not listening.
“I’m sorry if I have made you upset but I couldn’t live with myself if I stood by and said nothing. I really hope you will take everything I have said into consideration.”
He released her waist and opened the bathroom door. He peered out to make sure no one was there and then he was gone. Natasha was completely shaken. She couldn’t understand why Agent Johnson kept warning her about Derrick. There had to be a reason and now Natasha was beginning to worry. Had her love for Derrick made her blind to who he really was?
